Winner of the Crime and Thriller British Book of the Year Award 2021

Shortlisted for Audiobook of the Year Award at the British Book Awards 2021

Private Detective Cormoran Strike is visiting his family in Cornwall when he is approached by a woman asking for help finding her mother, Margot Bamborough - who went missing in mysterious circumstances in 1974.

Strike has never tackled a cold case before, let alone one forty years old. But despite the slim chance of success, he is intrigued and takes it on; adding to the long list of cases that he and his partner in the agency, Robin Ellacott, are currently working on. And Robin herself is also juggling a messy divorce and unwanted male attention, as well as battling her own feelings about Strike.

As Strike and Robin investigate Margot's disappearance, they come up against a fiendishly complex case with leads that include tarot cards, a psychopathic serial killer and witnesses who cannot all be trusted. And they learn that even cases decades old can prove to be deadly . . .

A breathtaking, labyrinthine epic, Troubled Blood is the fifth Strike and Robin novel and the most gripping and satisfying yet.

Exceptional on many levels. All the Robert Galbraith novels narrated by Philip Glenister are conspicuously good. I particularly like how there is so much more than plot. The imagery, sometimes so rich yet from only a few carefully chosen words. The characters are so real it feels like you know them. The insight, humanity (or lack of it in some characters) and sense of grim reality is what I like. There’s a few signatures scenes too but I don’t want to spoil any surprises. Philip Glenister is superb and helps bring the characters to life. Highly recommended.

I love the guy who reads this, he’s very good!
I’m not sure about the quotes from other books at the beginning of each chapter… I’m not sure what the author is doing. It’s annoying and I just want to skip it, the rest of the book is great though!!
