Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774–1824) was a German Augustinian nun, mystic and visionary who is venerated as Blessed in the Roman Catholic Church. She reportedly experienced religious visions throughout her life, including detailed accounts of the life, passion and death of Jesus Christ, which were recorded by the German poet Clemens Brentano.
The Dolorous Passion is based on Emmerich's visions of Christ's suffering and crucifixion, and has been widely read by Catholics for nearly two centuries. The text influenced Mel Gibson's film The Passion of the Christ and remains a significant work of Catholic devotional literature.
Her audiobooks and books bring these vivid, intensely detailed spiritual narratives to listeners, offering a contemplative and deeply moving experience for those interested in Christian mysticism and devotional tradition.
