Barbara Hambly

Barbara Hambly is an American fantasy, science fiction, and mystery author whose richly imagined, character-driven fiction has earned a devoted following over four decades. She holds a master's degree in Medieval History. Dragonsbane follows a middle-aged woman who is the last dragonslayer in a realm where dragons and magic are dying — a quiet, subversive fantasy that challenged genre conventions by centring an older female protagonist. The novel is regarded as a classic of the fantasy genre. Hambly has written over forty novels across multiple series. Her audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers rich, intelligent fantasy from a master of the genre — fiction that proves fantasy can be thoughtful, character-driven, and subversive.
