Barbara Winton is a British author and the daughter of Sir Nicholas Winton, the British humanitarian who organised the rescue of 669 children, mostly Jewish, from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia in 1938-1939. Known as the "British Schindler," Nicholas Winton's story was unknown for decades until his scrapbook was discovered by his wife in 1988.
One Life tells the story of her father's remarkable rescue operation and the extraordinary modesty that kept it secret for nearly fifty years. The book is both a tribute to an extraordinary act of moral courage and a reminder that individual action can save lives. The story was also the subject of the film One Life, starring Anthony Hopkins.
Available as both a book and an audiobook, One Life offers profoundly moving listening and reading — the story of a quiet hero whose conscience drove him to save hundreds of children from the Holocaust, told by the daughter who helped the world learn what he had done.
