Brian Hayles (1931-1978) was a British screenwriter who wrote for television, radio and film. He is best known for his contributions to the classic era of Doctor Who, including creating the Ice Warriors, one of the show's most enduring alien races. He wrote several Doctor Who serials during the 1960s and 1970s. Doctor Who And The Curse... Of Peladon is the novelisation of his 1972 television serial, set on the planet Peladon where the Doctor becomes embroiled in political intrigue and murder. The story is notable for being one of the first Doctor Who serials to use science fiction as an allegory for contemporary politics, reflecting Britain's debate over joining the European Economic Community. Available as both a book and an audiobook, Doctor Who And The Curse Of Peladon offers nostalgic listening and reading for Doctor Who fans and anyone who appreciates classic British science fiction from the golden age of the show.
