C. J. Box

C. J. Box is one of America's most popular thriller writers, a bestselling author whose Joe Pickett series has earned him millions of readers and numerous awards. Born in Casper, Wyoming, in 1962, he studied at the University of Wyoming and worked in various jobs — ranch hand, surveyor, fishing guide — before becoming a full-time novelist. He lives on a ranch in rural Wyoming. Box's Joe Pickett series follows a Wyoming game warden who repeatedly finds himself investigating crimes in the vast, remote landscapes of the American West. The series has run to over twenty novels, including Battle Mountain, and has been adapted for television. Box has also written standalone thrillers including Blue Heaven and The Highway, featuring his other popular character, Cassie Dewell (adapted as the TV series Big Sky). He has won the Edgar Award, the Anthony Award, the Macavity Award, and multiple Barry Awards. His fiction is distinguished by its vivid sense of place — the mountains, plains, and wilderness of Wyoming are as much characters as the people who inhabit them. His audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers propulsive thrillers set against some of America's most spectacular and unforgiving landscapes.
