Cassandra Clare is an American author of young adult fantasy fiction whose Shadowhunter Chronicles have become one of the most successful and expansive fantasy series in modern publishing, selling tens of millions of copies worldwide. Born Judith Rumelt in Tehran, Iran in 1973, Clare grew up travelling the world — living in Switzerland,... England, and France before settling in the United States. She took the pen name Cassandra Clare and studied at Barnard College. Before publishing her first novel, she was well known in online fan fiction communities. The Mortal Instruments series — City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass, City of Fallen Angels, City of Lost Souls, and City of Heavenly Fire — introduced the world of the Shadowhunters: half-angel warriors who protect humanity from demons. The Infernal Devices trilogy is set in Victorian London, The Dark Artifices in present-day Los Angeles, and The Last Hours in Edwardian England.
