Christopher Hitchens was a British-American journalist, author, literary critic, and public intellectual who was one of the most brilliant and provocative debaters of his generation. Born in Portsmouth in 1949, he wrote for the Nation, Vanity Fair, and the Atlantic, and was known for his atheism, his support for the Iraq War, and his devastating wit.
And Yet: Essays is a posthumous collection of his essays — covering literature, politics, travel, and culture with the characteristic Hitchens combination of erudition, combativeness, and electrifying prose. His other major works include God Is Not Great, Hitch-22, and Mortality.
Hitchens died in 2011. His audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers some of the finest English prose of recent decades — essays that crackle with intelligence, wit, and moral seriousness.
