David Grossman is an Israeli author, journalist and peace activist who is one of the most important literary voices in modern Israel. Born in Jerusalem in 1954, he has written novels, non-fiction, children's books and journalism that grapple with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the nature of grief and the search for empathy in a divided society. His son Uri was killed while serving in the Israeli army in 2006.
A Horse Walks Into a Bar is a novel set entirely during a stand-up comedy performance in a small Israeli club, where a comedian's act gradually unravels into a raw, painful and electrifying confession. The novel won the Man Booker International Prize in 2017 and is a tour de force of sustained psychological intensity.
Available as both books and audiobooks, David Grossman's novels offer extraordinary listening and reading — the work of a writer who combines intellectual brilliance with profound emotional depth in fiction that illuminates the human condition.
