David Lindsay (1876–1945) was a Scottish author whose science fiction novel A Voyage to Arcturus is one of the most extraordinary and original works of imaginative fiction in the English language. Published in 1920, the book was a commercial failure during his lifetime but has since been recognised as a masterpiece by writers including C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien and Harold Bloom.
A Voyage to Arcturus is a philosophical journey to a distant planet where the protagonist encounters landscapes and beings that embody different philosophical and spiritual ideas. It is unlike anything else in literature — part science fiction, part allegory, part spiritual quest.
His audiobooks and books are essential listening for anyone who loves truly original, mind-expanding fiction that defies categorisation.
