David Mitchell is a British comedian, actor, writer, and one half of the celebrated comedy double act Mitchell and Webb. Known for his sharp intellect, his exasperated delivery, and his ability to find the absurdity in everyday life, he is one of the most popular and respected comedic voices in the UK. Born in Salisbury, Wiltshire in... 1974, Mitchell was educated at Abingdon School and Peterhouse, Cambridge, where he studied History and met Robert Webb. The two formed a comedy partnership that would define both their careers. They performed together at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and went on to create and star in Peep Show — the longest-running comedy in Channel 4's history — and That Mitchell and Webb Look, among other programmes. Peep Show, which ran from 2003 to 2015, earned Mitchell a BAFTA for Best Comedy Performance. His portrayal of Mark Corrigan — anxious, pretentious, and painfully self-aware — resonated with viewers and became one of the defining comic characters of the era. Mitchell has also appeared in Upstart Crow (as Shakespeare), would I Lie to You? (as a team captain), and numerous panel shows. As a writer, Mitchell has produced several books. Back Story is a memoir that takes the reader on a walk through London while reflecting on his life and career.
