Dawn French is one of Britain's best-loved comedians, actresses, and writers, whose warmth, wit, and fearlessness have made her a national treasure. Born in Holyhead, Wales, in 1957, she grew up in Plymouth as the daughter of an RAF officer. She studied drama at the Central School of Speech and Drama, where she met her long-time comedy... partner Jennifer Saunders. French and Saunders became one of the most successful double acts in British comedy history, with their BBC sketch show French and Saunders running for over two decades. French went on to star in The Vicar of Dibley, one of the UK's most cherished sitcoms, playing the groundbreaking character of Geraldine Granger, the first female vicar of a small English parish. She has also appeared in films, presented television programmes, and performed sell-out live tours. As an author, French has written several bestselling novels including A Tiny Bit Marvellous, According to Yes, and Because of You, as well as the memoir Dear Fatty. Her fiction is characterised by the same observational humour and emotional intelligence that defines her comedy.
