Doris Lessing was a British-Zimbabwean author who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2007, becoming the oldest person and only the eleventh woman to receive the honour. Born in 1919 in Persia (now Iran) and raised in Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), she moved to London in 1949 and became one of the most important and prolific writers... of the twentieth century.
