Dr Wayne W. Dyer was an American self-help author, motivational speaker and psychotherapist who became one of the most influential figures in the personal development movement. Born in 1940, he authored over forty books, many of which became international bestsellers, beginning with Your Erroneous Zones in 1976, which remains one of the bestselling books of all time. 10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace distils his decades of teaching into ten essential principles for living a fulfilling and peaceful life, covering topics including letting go of ego, embracing silence, practising gratitude and living with purpose. Dyer's philosophy evolved over his career from cognitive behavioural self-help toward a more spiritual and transcendent worldview, drawing on the teachings of Lao Tzu, Rumi and other spiritual traditions. He hosted numerous PBS specials that reached millions of viewers and was affectionately known as the father of motivation. His audiobooks and books continue to inspire readers worldwide. He died in 2015.
