Elizabeth Bowen was an Anglo-Irish novelist and short story writer who is regarded as one of the great writers of the twentieth century. Born in Dublin in 1899, she divided her life between Ireland and England and wrote fiction of extraordinary psychological subtlety. The Death Of The Heart is one of her finest novels — a luminous, devastating portrait of a young girl's first encounter with the adult world and its betrayals. Bowen's fiction is celebrated for its psychological precision, its atmospheric prose, and its unflinching examination of emotional life. Bowen died in 1973. Her audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers some of the most psychologically subtle and beautifully written fiction of the twentieth century.
