Ellen Cassedy is an American author and journalist. Working 9 to 5 chronicles the history and legacy of the 9to5 movement, the groundbreaking campaign by American office workers — predominantly women — to fight for better pay, working conditions and respect in the workplace. The movement inspired the hit Dolly Parton film and song of the same name.
Cassedy was a co-founder and organiser of the original 9to5 organisation, giving her a unique insider's perspective on one of the most important workplace justice movements of the twentieth century. The book combines personal memoir with social history, telling the story of how ordinary women changed the American workplace.
Available as both a book and an audiobook, Working 9 to 5 offers inspiring listening and reading for anyone interested in workplace rights, women's history and the power of ordinary people to organise and fight for dignity and justice.
