Fonda Lee

Fonda Lee is an American fantasy and science fiction author whose Green Bone Saga has been acclaimed as one of the finest fantasy series of the twenty-first century. Born in Canada and raised in various locations due to her family's moves, she is a black belt in kung fu and a former corporate strategist — both of which inform her fiction. Jade City, the first book in the Green Bone Saga, introduces a secondary-world setting inspired by mid-twentieth-century East Asia, where two rival crime families fight for control of jade — a magical mineral that grants superhuman abilities to trained warriors. The trilogy (completed by Jade War and Jade Legacy) was praised for its blend of epic fantasy with crime family drama, compared favourably to The Godfather meets Crouching Tiger. Lee has won the World Fantasy Award, the Aurora Award, and multiple Locus Awards. Her audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers fantasy that combines martial arts action with family saga, political intrigue, and worldbuilding of extraordinary depth — fiction that proves fantasy can do everything literary fiction does while also delivering spectacular action.
