Gordon Murray was a British puppeteer, television producer and author who created some of the most beloved children's television programmes in British broadcasting history. Camberwick Green, which first aired on the BBC in 1966, was the first in his trilogy of stop-motion animated series set in fictional English villages, followed by Trumpton and Chigley. The programmes, featuring charming puppet characters and gentle storytelling, became cultural touchstones for generations of British children. Murray's creation of an idyllic rural England populated by memorable characters including Windy Miller, Captain Snort and the Trumpton fire brigade has endured as one of the most fondly remembered achievements in British children's entertainment. His audiobooks and books preserve the warmth and imagination of his beloved creations for new generations of young audiences.
