Hans Fallada was the pen name of Rudolf Ditzen, a German novelist whose work documented life in Germany during the Weimar Republic and the Nazi era. Born in 1893, he struggled with addiction and mental health throughout his life but produced some of the most powerful German fiction of the twentieth century. Alone in Berlin, published posthumously in 1947, is based on the true story of a working-class Berlin couple who waged a quiet resistance campaign against the Nazis by leaving anti-Hitler postcards across the city. The audiobook brings this masterpiece of wartime fiction to English-speaking listeners. Fallada died in 1947.
