Heda Margolius Kovaly was a Czech writer and Holocaust survivor. Born in Prague in 1919, she survived Auschwitz and the ลรณdลบ ghetto, only to face persecution again under the Communist regime in Czechoslovakia, where her husband was executed in the Slรกnskรฝ trial of 1952. Innocence; or, Murder on Steep Street is a detective novel set in Communist Prague that draws on her firsthand experience of totalitarian oppression. The audiobook brings this unique voice โ survivor of both Nazism and Stalinism โ to a wider audience. Kovaly died in 2010.
