Isabella Hammad is a Palestinian-British novelist whose ambitious, beautifully crafted fiction has established her as one of the most important new voices in contemporary literature. Born in London in 1992 to a Palestinian father and an English mother, she studied English at Oxford and earned her MFA at New York University.
Hammad's debut novel The Parisian was a sweeping epic following a Palestinian man from Nablus to France and back across the first half of the twentieth century, and was longlisted for the Palestine Book Awards. Enter Ghost follows a British-Palestinian actress who returns to Haifa and becomes involved in a production of Hamlet set in the West Bank, exploring how art and politics intertwine in occupied territory. Her fiction combines the intimacy of character study with the scope of political history, and her prose has been compared to the great literary novelists of the twentieth century.
Her audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers ambitious, politically engaged literary fiction that brings the Palestinian experience to English-language readers with extraordinary grace, intelligence, and emotional power.
