Jacob Ross is a Grenadian-British author and editor who is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Caribbean and British fiction. Black Rain Falling is a crime novel set in the Caribbean island of Camaho, featuring detective Michael Dogsone Digson in a story that combines the conventions of crime fiction with the rich cultural landscape, complex social dynamics and vivid natural environment of the Caribbean. Ross's writing has been praised for its lyrical prose, its deep sense of place and its ability to create crime fiction that is also literary fiction of the highest order. He is also the author of the novel Pynter Bender and has edited the Peepal Tree Press short story anthology series. He has won the Jhalak Prize and been longlisted for the Dublin Literary Award. His audiobooks and books bring Caribbean literature and culture to a wider international audience.
