Jim Thompson was an American author and one of the most important writers of hardboiled crime fiction in the twentieth century. Born in 1906, he wrote over thirty novels during his career, many of which are now considered classics of the noir genre. The Killer Inside Me, published in 1952, is his most celebrated work — a disturbing, brilliantly crafted first-person narrative told by a small-town deputy sheriff hiding a psychopathic nature behind a genial facade. Thompson's writing influenced generations of crime writers and filmmakers, and his reputation has grown enormously since his death in 1977. His audiobooks and books remain essential reading and listening for fans of crime fiction, noir, and American literature.
