John Brunner was a British science fiction author widely regarded as one of the most important and prescient writers in the genre. Born in 1934, he published his first novel as a teenager and went on to write dozens of acclaimed works over a career spanning four decades. The Sheep Look Up, published in 1972, is a landmark ecological science fiction novel depicting a near-future America devastated by environmental catastrophe — a work whose warnings feel increasingly relevant today. Brunner also wrote Stand on Zanzibar, which won the Hugo Award, The Jagged Orbit, and The Shockwave Rider. He died in 1995. His audiobooks and books remain essential reading and listening for science fiction fans and anyone interested in the genre's most visionary voices.
