Jon Ronson is a Welsh journalist, author, documentary filmmaker, and screenwriter whose work explores the strange, the extreme, and the unexplained in human behaviour. Born in Cardiff in 1967, he studied at the University of Westminster and has written for the Guardian, worked with Channel 4, and hosted podcasts including Things Fell Apart for the BBC.
Ronson's non-fiction books include Them: Adventures with Extremists, The Men Who Stare at Goats (adapted into a film), The Psychopath Test, So You've Been Publicly Shamed, and Lost at Sea. His writing is characterised by its immersive, first-person approach: Ronson places himself inside the worlds he investigates — conspiracy theorists, military psychic programmes, online shame mobs — and reports with curiosity, humanity, and deadpan humour. The Castle and other works continue his exploration of human strangeness.
His podcast Things Fell Apart explored the origins of culture war flashpoints. His audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers journalism as adventure — funny, unsettling, and compassionate investigations into the extremes of human behaviour that somehow always illuminate something about the rest of us.
