K. J. Parker

K.J. Parker is a pen name of Tom Holt, a British novelist who writes fantasy, historical fiction, and satirical novels. Under the Parker name, he has won the World Fantasy Award twice and is acclaimed for his darkly intelligent fantasy fiction. How To Rule An Empire and Get Away With It is a standalone fantasy about an actor who impersonates a dead warlord to keep a besieged city from falling — a sharp, witty, and compulsively readable novel about deception, performance, and power. Parker's fiction is celebrated for its intelligence, its dark humour, and its masterful plotting. His audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers brilliantly intelligent, darkly witty fantasy — fiction that proves the genre can be as sharp and sophisticated as the best literary fiction.
