Kiley Reid is an American novelist whose sharp, witty fiction explores race, class, and the complexities of liberal guilt in contemporary America. She grew up in Tempe, Arizona, studied at the University of Iowa's Writers' Workshop, and received her MFA in fiction. She lives in Philadelphia. Reid's debut novel Such a Fun Age, about a... young Black babysitter whose employer becomes obsessed with proving she's not racist, was longlisted for the Booker Prize, shortlisted for numerous other awards, and became a bestseller and book club favourite. The novel was praised for its razor-sharp observation of the performative aspects of racial allyship and the uncomfortable dynamics of domestic employment across racial lines. Her second novel, Come and Get It, is set at a university in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and examines class, ambition, and the voyeuristic dynamics of a writing professor who befriends a student resident adviser. Reid's fiction is celebrated for its keen social observation, its refusal to offer easy answers, and its ability to make readers examine their own assumptions.
