Lawrence Durrell

Lawrence Durrell was a British novelist, poet, and travel writer born in India in 1912. He is best known for The Alexandria Quartet, one of the landmarks of twentieth-century fiction. Balthazar is the second novel in the quartet, retelling the events of the first book, Justine, from a different perspective. His audiobooks and books are dazzling listening and reading — lush, sensuous, and intellectually rich prose set against the exotic backdrop of Alexandria.
