Louise Erdrich is one of America's most celebrated living novelists, whose fiction about Native American life in the northern Great Plains has won virtually every major literary prize. Born in Little Falls, Minnesota, in 1954, she is a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians. She owns Birchbark Books, an independent... bookshop in Minneapolis.
