Louise Rennison was a British author and comedian best known for her Confessions of Georgia Nicolson series, which became a defining young adult comedy for a generation of readers. Born in Leeds in 1951 and raised in Nottingham, she studied at Trent Polytechnic and later performed as a stand-up comedian before turning to writing. Her... debut novel Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging, published in 1999, introduced readers to Georgia Nicolson, a hilariously self-dramatising teenage girl navigating the catastrophes of adolescence in Nottingham. Written as Georgia's diary, the book won the Nestlé Smarties Book Prize and was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal. The series grew to ten books, sold millions of copies worldwide, and was adapted into the film Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. Georgia's voice — breathlessly funny, utterly self-absorbed, and irresistibly lovable — made the series an enduring classic. Rennison narrated the audiobook editions herself, bringing Georgia to life with her own comedic timing and warmth. She passed away in 2016, but her audiobooks and books continue to make new generations of listeners and readers laugh with their spot-on portrayal of teenage life in all its mortifying glory.
