Martin Edwards is a British crime writer, critic, and historian of the genre who has served as president of the Detection Club — the famous association of crime writers founded in 1930 by Dorothy L. Sayers, Agatha Christie, and others. Born in 1955, he studied Law at Oxford and has practised as a solicitor alongside his writing... career. Edwards's own crime fiction includes the Lake District Mysteries (featuring Daniel Kind and DCI Hannah Scarlett), the Harry Devlin series set in Liverpool, and the Rachel Savernake series. Blackstone Fell is one of his atmospheric Lake District mysteries. He is also the author of The Golden Age of Murder and The Life of Crime, two definitive histories of the detective fiction genre, and has edited numerous anthologies of classic crime stories.
