Mary Seacole (1805–1881) was a Jamaican-born British nurse, healer, and businesswoman who travelled to the Crimea during the Crimean War to care for wounded soldiers, often at her own expense and despite being refused by the British nursing establishment. Wonderful Adventures of Mrs Seacole in Many Lands is her autobiography, one of the first travel memoirs published by a Black woman in Britain. Seacole's audiobook offers listeners the inspiring, vivid account of a remarkable woman who deserves to be remembered alongside Florence Nightingale.
