Mike Hollow is a British crime writer and author of the Blitz Detective series, set during World War II in London. Born in West Ham, he grew up in Romford, Essex, and studied Russian and French at Magdalene College, Cambridge. He worked for the BBC and later for the international development charity Tearfund before going freelance as a copywriter, journalist, editor, and translator in 2002. He now writes full-time. The Blitz Detective series features Detective Inspector John Jago, who investigates murders against the backdrop of wartime London during the Blitz. Beginning with The Blitz Detective in 2015, the series has grown to include ten novels, with The Bloomsbury Murder as the most recent instalment. The books have been praised by Lee Child as "A-Grade crime fiction" and are notable for their meticulous historical detail, atmospheric evocation of wartime London, and engaging mysteries that illuminate the moral complexities of life during total war. Hollow's deep research into the period brings 1940s London vividly to life — the blackouts, the bomb damage, the rationing, and the social upheaval that the war created. His audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers immersive historical crime fiction that combines satisfying detective stories with a fascinating portrait of a city under siege.
