Oliver Sacks was a British-American neurologist and author whose extraordinary case histories transformed our understanding of the human brain and became some of the most beloved popular science writing of the twentieth century. Born in London in 1933 to a family of physicians and scientists, he studied medicine at Queen's College,... Oxford, before moving to the United States, where he spent most of his career at hospitals and universities in New York. An Anthropologist on Mars presents seven neurological tales that reveal how people adapt to and transcend extraordinary neurological conditions. He was a professor of neurology at NYU School of Medicine and a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. He died in 2015 at the age of eighty-two.
