Pearl S. Buck (1892–1973) was an American novelist and the first American woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. Her books and audiobooks include East Wind: West Wind, The Good Earth and dozens of other novels and stories that drew on her decades of life in China to create vivid, compassionate portraits of Chinese and American life. Buck's work championed cross-cultural understanding and challenged Western assumptions about Asia. Her audiobooks continue to introduce new generations of listeners to her powerful, humanistic storytelling.
