Peter F. Hamilton
Author
Peter F. Hamilton is a British science fiction author whose vast, intricately plotted space operas have made him one of the most successful and admired writers in modern science fiction. His novels are known for their epic scope, their detailed world-building, and their sheer ambition — sprawling narratives that span galaxies, centuries,... and multiple plotlines. Born in Rutland, England in 1960, Hamilton began writing in the 1980s and published his first novel, Mindstar Rising, in 1993. He has since become one of the defining voices in British space opera. The Night's Dawn Trilogy — The Reality Dysfunction (1996), The Neutronium Alchemist (1997), and The Naked God (1999) — was his breakthrough, a massive space opera dealing with the return of the dead to the universe of the living. The trilogy's combined length exceeds a million words, and its combination of hard science fiction, horror, and epic storytelling established Hamilton's reputation for ambition on a grand scale. The Commonwealth Saga, beginning with Pandora's Star (2004) and Judas Unchained (2005), and its sequel series the Void Trilogy, are set in a richly imagined future where wormhole technology has allowed humanity to colonise hundreds of worlds. The Fallers duology continued this universe. The Great North Road (2012) was a standalone epic combining murder mystery with interstellar science fiction. Hamilton's writing is characterised by its detailed scientific extrapolation, its complex plotting across multiple narrative strands, and its sense of wonder about what humanity might become. The audiobook editions of Hamilton's novels are epic listening experiences — their length and complexity are perfectly suited to sustained audio engagement. His books and audiobooks are essential for science fiction fans who love their space opera vast, detailed, and unafraid to think on a truly cosmic scale. Read more Show less
