Phil Hickes

Phil Hickes is a British author of children's fiction known for his spooky, atmospheric stories that blend adventure with gentle horror. He is a former actor and improviser, and his performance background infuses his writing with strong narrative voice and dramatic pacing. The Bewitching of Aveline Jones is a middle-grade ghost story set against the atmospheric backdrop of a Welsh seaside holiday. When Aveline discovers a hidden grave, she awakens something that should have stayed buried, and must use her courage and cleverness to set things right. Hickes writes spooky stories that are genuinely eerie without being too frightening for younger readers. The audiobook and book versions offer young listeners and readers a perfectly pitched ghost story. Hickes' work appeals to children who love spooky adventures and parents looking for stories that combine genuine atmosphere with age-appropriate thrills.
