Richard Dawkins is a British evolutionary biologist, author, and one of the world's most prominent public intellectuals and advocates for science and reason. Born in Nairobi, Kenya, in 1941, he studied Zoology at Balliol College, Oxford, under Nobel laureate Nikolaas Tinbergen, and held the inaugural Simonyi Professorship for the Public Understanding of Science at Oxford from 1995 to 2008.
Dawkins's books include The Selfish Gene (which introduced the concept of the 'meme'), The Extended Phenotype, The Blind Watchmaker, Climbing Mount Improbable, Unweaving the Rainbow, The Ancestor's Tale, The God Delusion, and 42 Tales From Life. The Selfish Gene remains one of the most influential science books ever written, fundamentally changing how people understand evolution. His writing combines scientific rigour with elegant prose and a gift for illuminating complex ideas through vivid metaphor.
His audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers some of the finest popular science writing of the modern era โ books that make evolutionary biology not just comprehensible but thrilling, from a scientist who has spent his life championing the wonder of the natural world.
