Richard Reeves is an American-British author, journalist and policy researcher known for his work on social mobility, masculinity and public policy. His book Daring Young Men tells the dramatic story of the Berlin Airlift of 1948-49, when Western allies flew supplies into West Berlin after the Soviet Union blockaded the city, one of the defining events of the early Cold War. Reeves brings the airlift to vivid life through detailed research and narrative skill, capturing both the geopolitical significance of the crisis and the human stories of the pilots, crews and Berliners who lived through it. He has written several books on American history and politics, and more recently has become prominent for his work on boys and men's issues as president of the American Institute for Boys and Men. His earlier career includes work at the Brookings Institution and as a journalist and documentary filmmaker. Reeves's writing combines historical scholarship with accessible, engaging narrative. The audiobook edition brings his gripping account of the Berlin Airlift to listeners interested in Cold War history, aviation and the stories of ordinary people caught up in extraordinary geopolitical events.
