Robert Graves (1895–1985) was a British poet, novelist, and scholar whose prolific literary career produced some of the most enduring works of the twentieth century. He is best known for I, Claudius and Claudius the God, his vivid, witty historical novels told from the perspective of the Roman emperor Claudius, which were adapted into the acclaimed BBC television series. Graves was also a distinguished war poet whose memoir Goodbye to All That is considered one of the finest accounts of the First World War. His audiobooks and books remain vital reading and listening for anyone interested in historical fiction, poetry, and classical civilisation.
