Sara Ryan is a British author and disability rights campaigner. She is the mother of Connor Sparrowhawk (known as Laughing Boy), who drowned in an NHS assessment and treatment unit in 2013 at the age of eighteen. His death exposed systemic failures in the care of people with learning disabilities and led to a landmark legal case.
Justice for Laughing Boy, with a foreword by Baroness Helena Kennedy QC, tells the story of Connor's life, his death and the family's fight for accountability and justice. The book is both a tribute to a beloved son and a powerful indictment of the systems that failed him, written with love, fury and an unshakeable determination that his death should lead to change.
Available as both a book and an audiobook, Justice for Laughing Boy offers profoundly important listening and reading for anyone who cares about disability rights, institutional accountability and the fight for justice when the system fails the most vulnerable.
