Sarah Deer is a Native American legal scholar, professor and MacArthur Fellow whose work focuses on violence against Native women and the intersection of tribal sovereignty and federal law. She is a citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and one of the most influential voices in the movement to address sexual violence in Indian Country. Deer's scholarship has directly influenced federal legislation and has been cited by the US Supreme Court. Her books and audiobooks offer readers and listeners essential, rigorously argued scholarship on one of the most urgent and underrecognised justice issues in America.
