Seneca
Author
Seneca (c.4 BCE - 65 CE), fully Lucius Annaeus Seneca, was a Roman Stoic philosopher, statesman, dramatist and tutor to the Emperor Nero. He was one of the most important thinkers of the Stoic school of philosophy and one of the finest prose writers of the Roman era. His life ended when Nero ordered him to commit suicide, which he did... with the composure his philosophy demanded. Letters from a Stoic is a collection of his philosophical letters addressed to his friend Lucilius, covering topics including the shortness of life, the nature of friendship, the proper use of wealth, the management of anger and the achievement of inner peace. The letters offer practical wisdom that has resonated with readers for nearly two thousand years and has found a new audience in the modern revival of interest in Stoic philosophy. Available as both a book and an audiobook, Letters from a Stoic offers timeless listening and reading — practical philosophy for navigating life's challenges with courage, clarity and equanimity, as relevant today as when it was written two millennia ago.
