Sheridan Le Fanu (1814–1873) was an Irish writer of gothic tales and mystery novels who is considered one of the most influential ghost story writers in the English language. His works, including the vampire novella Carmilla (which predated and influenced Bram Stoker's Dracula) and the ghost stories collected in In a Glass Darkly, helped establish the conventions of supernatural fiction. The Room in the Dragon Volant is among his atmospheric tales of mystery and the macabre. His audiobooks and books are essential for fans of gothic and supernatural fiction who appreciate the origins of the genre and writing that can still send shivers down the spine after more than a century.
