Stella Gibbons
Author
Stella Gibbons was a British novelist, journalist, and poet. Born in London in 1902, she is best known for Cold Comfort Farm, her comic masterpiece that parodies the rural melodramas of authors like Thomas Hardy and D.H. Lawrence. The novel won the Femina Vie Heureuse Prize. Christmas at Cold Comfort Farm is a collection of short... stories set at the famously chaotic farm during the festive season — bringing Gibbons's characteristic wit and satirical eye to the joys and absurdities of Christmas. Gibbons died in 1989. Her audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers some of the wittiest, most delightful comic fiction in the English language — a perfect antidote to literary pomposity.
