Suetonius (c. 69–c. 122 AD) was a Roman historian and biographer best known for The Lives of the Caesars (De Vita Caesarum), a collection of biographies of the first twelve rulers of the Roman Empire, from Julius Caesar to Domitian. His work is one of the most important surviving sources for the history of early imperial Rome, famous for its vivid, sometimes scandalous portraits of the emperors and its blend of historical narrative with intimate personal detail. Suetonius wrote with a directness that has made his work accessible and entertaining for nearly two millennia. His audiobooks and books remain essential for anyone interested in Roman history and classical literature.
