Terry Deary is a British author and actor best known as the creator of Horrible Histories, one of the bestselling children's non-fiction series of all time. Born in Sunderland in 1946, he worked as an actor and teacher before writing his first Horrible Histories book in 1993. The series has sold over 25 million copies in over 40... languages. Horrible Histories transformed how children learn about the past by focusing on the gory, disgusting, and darkly funny aspects of history that textbooks leave out. Deary has written over 200 books across the series and beyond, covering everything from the Terrible Tudors to the Vile Victorians.
