Tom Holt is a British novelist known for his prolific output of comic fantasy and satirical fiction, with a career spanning over four decades and more than seventy novels that blend mythology, history, and sharp wit. Born in London in 1961, Holt was writing from an early age — he published his first novel at the age of thirteen. He... studied at Westminster School and Wadham College, Oxford, where he read bar studies at law. He also worked as an auctioneer and metalwork dealer before becoming a full-time writer. His comic fantasy novels — including Expecting Someone Taller, Who's Afraid of Beowulf?, Flying Dutch, Barking, and dozens more — take mythological and historical figures, legendary creatures, and magical concepts and drop them into absurd modern situations.
