Vasily Grossman was a Soviet journalist and novelist who wrote two of the most important novels about the Second World War and the Soviet experience. Born in Ukraine in 1905, he was a war correspondent for the Red Army newspaper and one of the first journalists to report on the Holocaust.
Stalingrad is the first of his two epic novels about the Battle of Stalingrad — a vast, sweeping work that stands alongside War and Peace as one of the great novels of warfare. The novel was followed by Life and Fate, which was suppressed by the KGB and not published until decades later.
Grossman died in 1964. His audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers some of the most powerful, important fiction ever written about war — epic novels that illuminate the human cost of the twentieth century's greatest conflict.
