Wilfred Thesiger was one of the greatest British explorers of the twentieth century. Born in Addis Ababa in 1910, he spent decades travelling through some of the most remote and inhospitable places on earth, including the Empty Quarter of Arabia, the marshes of southern Iraq, and the mountains of Kurdistan. Arabian Sands, his masterpiece, recounts his two crossings of the Rub' al Khali desert with Bedouin companions. His audiobooks and books are magnificent listening and reading — among the finest travel writing ever produced.
